Yes, it's the news you've been waiting for - Duck the Great Western Engine will be made by Bachmann USA in 2012. This is not so surprising really, given the character's continuing popularity, despite his absence in the current incarnation of Thomas & Friends.
More on this news and hopefully some discussion on the pre-production samples, when it breaks.
Until next time!
Yes! Just what I was hoping for! When do you suppose he'll be released?
ReplyDeleteFinally! I just hope he's built accurately?
ReplyDeleteWith the level of accuracy the models have been produced with these last few releases, I'm sure he'll look absolutely grand.
ReplyDeleteI hope that your right.
DeleteAnd now Simon could a Bachmann Duck vs Hornby Duck video hopefully!
ReplyDeleteI hope Duck gets a series 3 face. BTW Where did you here that bachmann will make Duck?
ReplyDeleteI cannot reveal my source out of respect to his kindness, but my source was cross referenced against another and confirmation of this portion of this year's Bachmann range confirmed.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone who wants to support the Awdry characters and the Awdry legacy should make 2012 "The year of the Great Western" insomuch as buying the Bachmann Duck is concerned.
In short, I would like to actively encourage everyone to spread the word and once pre-orders are invited, to get their orders in for what will be a stunning model.
I am very glad that are making Duck. However could it mean an end of an era for the wonderful Hornby Duck?
ReplyDeleteHornby's Duck's been discontinued, hence why there's been so much pressure on Bachmann to make him.
DeleteOh Of course! :P
DeleteI can't believe it!
ReplyDeleteNow we just need to wait for Bachmann to announce it themselves! They'd better do it soon; the public's on to them!
This means that they've made engines #1-10! I haven't been this excited for their engine since Edward!
I guess the CGI transition isn't holding Duck back after all!
Bachmann actually have confirmed Duck already, he's on the website now!!!
DeleteWell, all I can say is people power really DOES work! Well done, Bachmann
ReplyDeleteBachmann deserve a lot of credit for this one. They had plans in place to do certain characters for quite a while and clearly read the feedback expressed on the internet in various locations.
ReplyDeleteOh. My. God. Pinch me, I'm dreaming!
ReplyDeleteI hope Lionel trains dose him next!
ReplyDeleteBring on Oliver!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Duck would appear in full CGI before we see a picture of the actual model.
ReplyDeleteDuck: I'm Great Western and I...
ReplyDeleteDonald: Quack, Quack, Quack!
Duck: What?
Donald: You heard. Quack Quack you go, sounds like you laid an egg that became a wee Bachmann engine!
It's about time but I figured it was gonna happen soon! I might buy one just for display purposes until I can work up money for a layout!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for the US contingency finally getting a Duck, as for myself, I already own the Hornby, so not as excited.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Now,Hornby is the one who's behind! All Bachmann needs now is Oliver and they'll have all of the main engine characters from Seasons 1 through 3!!! Maybe part of the reason of why they decided to make it is to fill the gap made last year with #1-7 and 9-10. (Although I still agree that the character's popularity would've been another reaason ;))Anyways, Bachmann is just doing fantastic and as you've mentioned in the reviews Simon, their models are getting better recently. Can't wait to see it!
ReplyDelete...Hornby made a Duck in 1986, which was discontinued a few years ago. So technically, Bachmann are STILL behind, but catching up fast.
DeleteAWSOME!
